Dignitaries Felicitated by the Governor of Assam at the International Buddha Peace Award & Gaurav Shri Samman Ceremony

In a heartening celebration of humanity, service, and grassroots leadership, the Maitry Peace Foundation hosted its much-anticipated award ceremony on 2nd May 2025 in the culturally vibrant city of Guwahati, Assam. The evening brought together individuals from across India whose contributions in education, healthcare, environmental protection, and social reform have left a lasting mark on society.


The International Buddha Peace Award & Gaurav Shri Samman was formally conferred by the Honourable Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who praised the selfless dedication of the awardees. In his keynote address, the Governor acknowledged the transformative power of community-led action and lauded the Maitry Peace Foundation for consistently honouring unsung heroes.


“These awards are a tribute to the spirit of service and the courage to create meaningful change. Each recipient here inspires a future rooted in empathy and unity,” the Governor said.


Awardees were felicitated with elegantly designed trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding efforts. Their journeys—filled with perseverance, impact, and commitment—stood as a testament to what can be achieved through purpose-driven action.


Presiding over the event was Surajit Barua, the respected Buddhist monk and President of the Maitry Peace Foundation. In his address, he emphasized the collective responsibility of fostering compassion and social harmony.


“This ceremony is more than recognition—it’s a reaffirmation of our shared duty to uplift each other, to lead with kindness, and to act with purpose,” said Surajit Barua.


The evening also featured a rich cultural segment that showcased Assam’s traditional music and dance, creating a perfect harmony between heritage and hope.


Among the many distinguished dignitaries, community leaders, and social advocates present were Shri Gadde Narahari, Shri Manoj Kacharia, Dr. Kaushik Gosh, and Dr. Munir Khan, all of whom received the International Buddha Peace Award & Gaurav Shri Samman for their exemplary work.


Dr. Munir Khan, a seasoned Civil Engineer and dedicated Social Worker, has devoted his career to infrastructure development that uplifts underprivileged communities. With years of experience in structural design, repairs, and restoration, Dr. Khan has worked tirelessly on affordable housing projects and rural development schemes. His passion for community service is reflected in his on-ground initiatives that ensure safe, sustainable, and accessible living spaces for the marginalized. His technical expertise, coupled with his humanitarian values, make him a shining example of engineering for social good.


The ceremony concluded with a sincere vote of thanks to all attendees, guests, and volunteers. Through such inspiring gatherings, the Maitry Peace Foundation continues to honor the changemakers who, with quiet determination, are building a more just, peaceful, and compassionate world.
